Math Club Activities
I have been an active member of the Homestead High School Math Club. As a freshman during the 2020-2021 school year, I virtually presented on Generating Functions. As the Activities Director of Math Club in the following year, I continued to share more ideas on combinatorics and game theory, such as Catalan Objects and Wythoff’s Game. I also organized and extensively advertised a game night event that year, during which we hosted games such as Blackjack, Nim, and Wythoff’s Game. As Vice President last year, I have helped members with preparing for the AMC competitions and facilitated their participation. I have also introduced Retrograde Analysis.
Over the past two years, I have invited guest speakers to share on topics in advanced math with our members, such as geometric constructability, and algebraic geometry.
As President this year, I aimed to increase participation in the Math Club. During club fair, I provided puzzles and estimation problems to encourage newcomers to sign up, and this boosted enrollment 2.5 times.
